Breaking: Techcrunch acquires Techwankers
After a late night meeting, we can now officially confirm that the holy bible of tech blogs, Techcrunch has acquired Techwankers. At present, we cannot disclose the financial details (but both myself and Wanksta are buying the drinks tonight over at Blue Chalk in Palo Alto).
We got Michael Arrington (founder of Techcrunch) to provide the following:
We have been following the Techwankers almost from the start. Although I would not define myself as a fan of its writing, I do see them as filling a niche in the market. Once I discover that our own MG Siegler was also their adviser, it made sense for us [Techcrunch] to get involved. Both Techcrunch and Techwankers will continue to run as separate entities – but now we have an additional channel for news that are more controversial. We welcome both Joe and Wanksta to the team.
So what does this mean? It means we can finally move away from ramen to Big Macs. Our writing will continue in the same style. Michael has assured me that he will not censor our writings. He did mention that he ‘preferred’ that we write less of him. But MG is still ‘open game’.
We have also been given access to Michael’s ‘black book’ – the ultimate news source. So watch out Silicon Valley brown nosers – you will become our bitches.
UPDATE: For those who emailed us – just turn up at Blue Chalk. We’ll most likely arrive around 7. Look for someone with Big boobs (that will be Wanksta) and I (Joe) will be in a skirt – with ‘TW’ logo tee-shirt. Yeah – we are both HOT!!
